What Should I Do If My Breaker Panel Is Hot?

September 19, 2024 | 3:02 pm

It is normal for a breaker panel to produce some heat when the circuit is running. However, the surface feeling hot to the touch may indicate a serious problem with your electrical system. When overheating occurs, you must shut off the power immediately by flipping the main switch and turning off all the circuits in the building.

Shutting off the power will not solve the underlying problem, but it may temporarily stop the overheating. You should call a licensed electrician to assess the system and address the cause of the issue.
