Interior Design Q&A: Matching Countertops to Cabinets
November 1, 2015 | 6:10 pmQ. I have all white appliances and an oak floor in a relatively smaller kitchen. What color countertops would look good with that? Currently, my cabinets are white, but I may change them also.
A. We would first have to ask you what type of countertop material you were looking to install in your home. Currently, there are seemingly endless options that include laminate, solid surface, tile, concrete, butcher block, and stone – just to name a few. Each of these surfaces has its own pros and cons, but we usually suggest narrowing it down by budget first. Depending on the material you use on the surface, you might consider different colors. Some of the colors in certain surface materials stain easier or show more scratches, and some surfaces are much harder to maintain than others.
