Serving Amongst Those Who Know Service Best

November 19, 2024 | 8:53 pm

Gratitude, family, service, and community — these values guide us not just in November, but all year long. As we mark Veterans Day and approach Thanksgiving, we reflect on the importance of these principles, not only in how we celebrate but in how we live and work. Across all three Tuckey companies, these ideals and holidays go beyond seasonal sentiments or reasons for a work potluck. They are the foundation of everything we do, shaping the way we serve our customers, support our teams, and engage with our communities, including the very special segment of the population who hold the distinct designation of Veteran or other military title.

At The Tuckey Companies we are proud to be a military-friendly employer. Our commitment to veterans and active military personnel is deeply rooted in the values that drive us. It’s reflected in our hiring practices, the way we support active service members in the workforce, and the pride we take in the unique qualities that veterans bring to The Tuckey Companies. Whether it’s a skilled HVAC technician at Tuckey Mechanical Services, a welder at Tuckey Metal Fabrication, or someone willing to roll up their sleeves and get their boots dirty with Tuckey Restoration, we are honored to employ Veterans and military personnel.

As our President and Founder, Kenn Tuckey, has said, “We appreciate what the military does. These men and women give a good part of their lives in service and then come back to rejoin their communities. They deserve to be supported fully when they’re home, and we want to support our veterans however we can.”

Our support for military service members goes beyond words. In 2019, Matt Tuckey, our Business Development Director, accepted The Patriot Award on behalf of The Tuckey Companies in recognition of our commitment to the National Guard and Reserve members. The award came after a previous employee nominated Tuckey for its unwavering support of his military commitments, including flexible scheduling to accommodate his service needs. Reflecting on the honor, Matt said, “We value the work of the dedicated men and women serving in the National Guard and Reserve. We view flexible schedules for service members as an act of patriotism, not a problem.”

This commitment is a natural extension of our company culture. Nathan Tuckey, our Corporate Systems Director, sums it up perfectly: “Veterans and individuals who have served in any branch of the military make great employees. They get teamwork.” And teamwork is at the heart of everything we do at Tuckey. It’s the glue that holds us together and the foundation of our continued success.

As we celebrate the values of gratitude, family, service, and community this November, we’re reminded that these aren’t just words we say — they’re the principles we live by. Our ability to authentically honor these values comes from the people we work alongside every day, including the Veterans and military personnel who make our team stronger and our communities better.

In conclusion, as we find ourselves between Veterans Day and Thanksgiving, Tuckey is committed to supporting the men and women who have served and continue to serve. We strive not only to create a great place for Veterans to work, but also to make the communities they return home to places of comfort, healing, and peace.
